The Car Ride

Well. THAT was interesting.
After a nice early morning visit to the doctor's office, we were underway at about 12:00. Dad drove the entire way for 8 (dang that's a long time) hours, only stopping three times for food and the bathroom, as usual. Here's a selfie from the beginning of our journey-

Ok, story time-
It had been raining on and off throughout the car ride, so when we stopped for the bathroom around hour 4, it wasn't so much a surprise when the rain picked up. I hightailed it out of there as soon as we stopped, leaving everyone else in the car. When I came out of the store, Foster was the only one left. Seeking cover from the rain, I didn't think much of it as I ran for the car. But of course, the door was locked. I ran back under cover of the store, and found my mother, who texted Foster to let us in.
Here's where it gets crazy. It turns out that it's a problem if you unlock the door from inside the car, (I mean it's not like someone locked in a car would have to get out or anything.) Anyway, the second Foster unlocked the car, we hear "HONK HONK HONK HONK"; the car alarm was off. So here we were, the three of us, inside a car while the alarm screamed across the parking lot.
It didn't take long before "FOSTER GO GET YOUR FATHER IN THE BATHROOM" was added to the noise, and Foster was off attempting to retrieve Dad. Luckily, he found him quickly, and the car alarm was stopped.
(If things were even relatively normal for this family, it would have ended there. But of course, that's never the case. )
For some reason, my mom got the bright idea to try to unlock the car AGAIN from the INSIDE. As if NOTHING had just happened. Keep in mind, this is less than 30 seconds after my dad had JUST stopped the alarm.
Anyway, of course the "HONK HONK HONK HONK" starts again, and at this point the man smoking outside isn't even trying to contain his laughter anymore, and I'm right there with him. It was HILARIOUS, and the look on my dad's face from inside the store just made it better. I wish I had gotten a picture if that moment, but by the time I pulled my phone up, he was attempting to turn off the alarm for the second time in less than a minute. Here's the picture-
Needless to say, we left quickly after that.

Things ran relatively smooth after that. We drove, and drove, and drove... and drove. I fell asleep at one point, I mean there's only so much one can do in the car. We continued on track to Jekyll, until it was obvious that was where we were going. We have separate hotel rooms for the kids and adults, and THAT is a nice perk. We even have a beach view from our balcony. I could get used to this.

Anyway, we hope you are all enjoying your time off; and thanks for reading!!
